For 29 years I lived in Hazelbrook in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, NSW. Not far from our place was the Burgess Falls walking track which took us down to Fairy Falls, Horseshoe Falls and, ultimately, Burgess Falls. We were lucky that we weren’t a ‘tourism village’ and so this was not a highly-trod path – it was rare to see others down there, and so as locals we did feel it was ‘ours’.
This image is one of my favourites from my time there – I love the way the light filters through the trees, the way the ferns guard the path and the angophoras guard the ferns.
