Description
In 2005 we had the pleasure of staying in the Hotel Prince Albert in Paris. One morning, for some weird reason, we put the room key on top of the radiator, and I, for some weirder reason, took a photo of it!
For many years I wanted to do something with the photo, but didn’t know what. Eventually I printed it onto a sheet of watercolour paper. I then laid loads of smaller keys on the paper around the image of the hotel key before spattering the paper with different shades of yellow and green paint. Between colours, I moved the keys, so there are no ‘hard white’ stencils.
The spattering extends to the edges of the page, so in that regard there’s a decent border around most of this work, meaning that matting should pose no problems when framing.
