Description
My ‘Central Australia’ series was inspired by some photos on calendars. I’ve only been to the Outback once – back in 1988 – and the calendars were a wonderful reminder of the amazing geology and fauna I saw there. Aside from ‘Central Australia V’, these artworks aren’t replicas of the photos but interpretations of them. I have no idea who the original photographers were, but I thank you for the artistic stimulation!
‘Central Australia I’ is unique in that it’s the only version of that particular image that I painted. The view is of a gorge, I think, with one central tree and some surrounding rocks and vegetation. It’s unusual in that I sketched the background first, then painted it – normally I paint first then ink.
‘Central Australia I’ was created on watercolour paper and has a reasonable border for matting, except at the top where it’s a little bit narrow.
Height: 24 cm; Width: 32 cm
