Red Rock Archway

Description

‘Red Rock Archway’ was inspired by an image I saw on a calendar many years ago of a rock arch which I believe is in the Northern Territory of Australia. I’m pretty sure that the rock which is depicted in the background through the arch is actually Chambers Pillar.

I wanted to feel the texture of the environment in the painting, so I used tissues in the background for the scrublands and the lower part of the arch in particular.

‘Red Rock Archway’ was completed on a stretched canvas and has a black frame around it.

This is one of my earlier experimental works, and was completed and framed in 2004.
