Goldfish (after Arthur Coleman)

Description

‘Goldfish (after Arthur Coleman)’ was inspired by a painting the late Arthur Coleman had created and had hanging on his lounge room wall. At the time, Arthur was directing a production of Terry Pratchett’s Mort for the Brook Community Theatre, based, at the time, in Woodford in the Blue Mountains.

Arthur’s work was a watercolour and I was amazed at how he’d managed to capture the depth and movement of water with the fish behind. I only saw it once, but eventually – some years later – had to try it myself.

My version is different – I could never have hoped to emulate Arthur’s work – but it was created the way I create most of my pen and watercolour works i.e. watercolour first, ink later.

There is a decent border around three sides for matting,  the fourth side (one of the long sides) is a little narrow, bit there’s still room. And you can hang it upside-down compared to how it’s shown here, if you prefer. It probably wouldn’t work sideways, though.
