‘Mangrove Afternoon’ came about accident. It is actually an overpainting of something more restrictive which I had tried and lost patience with. (To be honest – the Queen’s horse guards marching down The Mall was the original work, but … #epicfail, lol!) After a year or so of looking at my mess, I started adding leftover paint to the canvas from other items I was working on, without trying to force it in any particular direction.
Eventually I reached a balance between colour and direction which gave me what you see here, and it just reminded me of a sunny afternoon filtering through a mangrove swamp. You may think of it differently and decide to give it another name.
Like so many of my acrylic paintings, this one was completed using old credit and sim cards to apply the paint – no brushes were harmed in its making.
Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.
