‘Marina, San Francisco’ is a watercolour and ink artwork completed in 2012 following a visit to the USA.
We had walked along The Embarcadero at the edge of San Francisco Bay one spring morning, and between Pier 35 and Pier 39 I was struck by all the boats lined up at their moorings. After coming home I felt compelled to just try to capture the lightness of it all: the soft blues and greys all around, the boats bobbing on the water’s surface, the birds coasting around on the updrafts, the clouds floating along on the breeze …
Like most of my watercolour and ink artworks, this one was completed watercolour first, ink second – to stop me trying to ‘paint between the lines’! The palette is minimal – just a couple of blues and a grey.
This original artwork has a generous border for matting when framing.
This artwork ships unframed across the world.
Price includes shipping within Australia. If you’re overseas, a $5 surcharge will apply once you enter your shipping address to help cover the additional shipping costs.
